Meeting the Red Hot Chili Peppers in a multimedia jam session was an honour and a lot of thrill playing with a massive kinetic installation over their heads and the ones of the fans.
The light installation - comprised of over 1000 Nano Winches and connected LED fixtures - was conceived with the band, TAIT and Scott Holthaus, as a way to bring fans even deeper into the music in sweeping waves of colour. Synced with digital content on stage and responding to the rhythm of the music, the stage extension surrounded the audience with live sound, immersing them in colours and shapes inspired by each song on a new set list drafted each night.

For this epic rock tour, my contribution included the direction of the tridimensional animations of the kinetic lights - produced in Touch Designer - as well as the visuals displayed on the LED screen behind the musicians. This ‘dialogue’ extends the band’s live presence and energy from the stage out over the crowd with an ever-evolving set of surprises.
The result is especially exciting because it creates a unifying, organic link between the installation, the audience, and the band. Thrilled to have contributed to an unforgettable fan experience while developing the next generation of live shows.
